The purpose AOV systems is to lead smoke & Heat out of a burning building, whilst keeping main escape corridors and stairs free of smoke for the escape of the buildings occupants, and, to allow access for fire fighters.

With manual call points placed at key positions in the building, fireman can still override the control system, if required. All these devices will be linked to a central control panel, complete with a battery backup system in case of mains failure.
